Green TWP Professional Firefighters

2008 Golf Outing

The second annual Terry Tate Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Friday, July 11 with a shotgun start at 1pm at Aston Oaks Golf Club. We are happy to announce that proceeds from this years' outing will go to the Kristen's Cure Foundation. Kristen is a Green Township resident and UC student who has been stricken with Leukemia, and due to her illness was forced to temporarily withdraw from UC, thus canceling her medical insurance. Local 2927 and our golfing buddies are eager to assist in helping Kristen beat this terrible disease. Hurry, this outing is sure to sell out as it has in years past. Cost is TBA, but we're taking tee times and sponsorships now (chris.godfrey@fuse.net).

Welcome to the official website of the Green Township Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 2927. We represent the career , full-time firefighters up to, and including the rank of Captain with the Green Township Department of Fire and EMS. As members of the International Association of Fire Fighters, we strive to deliver a courteous, professional level of service, while ensuring a healthy, safe, and equal work environment.
Our interest in the well-being or our great community of Green Township is strong. The creation of our political action committee (PAC) gives us a legitimate voice in what we, as emergency responders, believe is an appropriate direction for our community. We are also very active in raising and distributing funds for the less fortunate, or those stricken by tragedy amongst the citizens we proudly serve. Whether it’s golf outings or filling the boot for MDA, our compassion for serving others is ongoing.

Green Township Fire and EMS Lieutenant and Local 2927 member Terry Tate died on April 20, 2007 after a brief illness. His close family and many of his co-workers and friends were gathered at the hospital and Terry was surrounded by those who love him. Terry was 35 years old, and leaves behind his wife Cindy and two children, Conner (age 4) and Amber (age 1).

His wife Cindy and the rest of Terry's family find great comfort in that some good will come of his early passing. Through organ donation, Terry will continue to live on, improving the lives of others. He spent his career saving lives and making things better for people in distress, and continues to do so even after his own death.

Terry has been with Green Township since 2/28/94 when he was hired as a part-time firefighter. On 6/10/96 he was hired full-time, and then promoted to Lieutenant on 6/14/99.

Please pray for Terry and his family. This is a difficult time for everyone involved and your support is greatly appreciated.
